Anheuser-Busch InBev has finally completed its acquisition of rival brewer SABMiller for nearly $106 billion after a long negotiation process, creating the largest brewery in the world — though AB InBev already holds that title independently.

The deal will make Anheuser-Busch InBev the fifth largest maker of consumer goods by revenue, tying with Unilever at $64 billion, eclipsed only by PepsiCo, P&G, and Nestlé.

As part of the deal, SABMiller will now sell its 58 percent stake in MillerCoors to its partner, Molson Coors Brewing, for $12 billion, relinquishing the rights to the Miller brand, and making Molson Coors the second-largest brewer in the United States.

According to Euromonitor International, the acquisition of SABMiller by Anheuser-Busch InBev could account for a third of global beer sales.

In a call with investors, Carlos Brito, chief executive for Anheuser Busch InBev, called the deal “extremely compelling” and spoke of the opportunity to “build a better world together.”
